FAQ's
What do I need to get started?
Dragonboat and voyageur dropin sessions are open to the public. If you want to try outrigger canoeing contact the OC rep. If unsure what may suit you best contact the DB, OC or Voyageur representative. Sign up is required on the FLCC website. Pay $10 dropin fee and sign a waiver.
Where does the club meet?
Do I need any prior experience?
No experience needed – FLCC offers paddling for all fitness levels from recreational to competitive. Basic instructions will be provided. You do not need to know how to swim, however please note you are required to wear a PFD (Personal Flotation Device) at ALL times while out on the water.
Do I need a lifejacket / what do I bring?
You do not need to buy new gear to start. A Personal Flotation Device (PFD) is required on any docks; however, if you do not have one, FLCC will provide one for you to borrow in the short term. Be sure everything you take in the boat can get wet (no electronics, etc). Wear weather appropriate non-cotton layers. Bring a hat and sunscreen, or rainwear. Wear comfortable shoes. We paddle rain or shine but not in extreme weather conditions e.g. wind / thunderstorms.
Who do I contact to learn more?
Please send questions to [email protected] or ask one of our senior club members for more info.
